Dear Friends,

Greetings in Jesus’ name! May this note find you blessed and enjoying the rest of summer break.

I arrived back safe to Masbate City Monday inspite of two typhoons lingering in the Philippine atmosphere. It was good to find Ptr Pio and Bro. Rey waiting for me at the airport with the ministry FX. The students and their pastors and a few parents were waiting in school when we arrived. There was joy and excitement in the air as the students with eyes filled with anticipation waited for my instructions. A local Masbateno brother (Joey) assisted as as we purchased the electric fans, class chairs, ordered a custom made whiteboard, kitchen items (such as kaldero, kawali, sandok, etc), water dispenser, tons of light bulbs, etc.

The previous tenant failed to pay the electric bill for almost one year. We went ahead and paid the humongous balance at the Marelco and was promised electricity by 4pm that day. By the time we arrived back to school in the evening, lo and behold, we held our very first night in school on candlelights, every mosquito feasting on my feet, and doors with broken locks. Super init. I really thought i was suffering for Jesus especially my hairdo (he he he). With our cellphones dying on us, we really needed electricity. Pastor Pio and Rey returned to the elec company the next day and praise the Lord, we’re on business!

Tuesday, with all boxes and suitcases and plastic bags to open, we went ahead and started regular classes at 7am – 5pm. We have students from Masbate island, ticao island and burias island. All three major islands of the province represented. A total of 21 students are currently enrolled.

I wish you can see the student’s eyes sparkle and smile on their lips as they hear the simple truth of God’s Word. I began sharing about the wonderful plan of God for the salvation of the world. Many were challenged to hear how God can use them all over the island, the country and the world.

We are excited. Ptr Pio is returning to Laoag tomorrow to assist Sis Marcia in giving up the Mission House. We are moving to Vintar to downsize. It will be a big work ahead. Rey, on the other hand, will be staying full time to help run the school. Sis Jackie who will be the assistant administrator of Masbate will be arriving from HongKong Sept 15. I will be glad when she gets here.

While in Manila, I spoke with Bro. Randy (alumni) about the need in Masbate school. He will be assisting for 3 weeks in October during his sem-break.

Let’s pray for Sis Linda Nix to make it here by the end of August. As we badly need a teacher.

Right now, we are getting settled schedule-wise. It is all working out together! We have favor! Favor! Favor!

I will update you more as get the chance to get away teaching schedule. I am using the internet cafe here in the market area.

Island Mission Update – Masbate City

Dear Friends and Partners in Christ,

Greetings from the busy streets of Masbate City! I am here at a sidewalk internet cafe. Sis Marcia (our school administrator) and I have been here in the city for three days scouting for a place to rent for the training center. Finally this morning we found one that will probably meet the need of the training center but will need much improvement. It is located in the main street about a mile away from the city proper. We also had the favor to speak to the Pastor’s Meeting yesterday to introduce the bible school. We had a good reception and feedback beyond our expectations. We also went ahead and interviewed students who were present at the meeting. The Lord is truly good! We are also blessed to receive military cots from Lord of the Harvest Church in San Antonio needing to be shipped here in Masbate. This will be used by the students in their dormitory. Thank you very much Pastor Joe and the LHC family. As far as needing a school administrator, one of our alumni residing in Hongkong, Sis Jackie Ballesteros, will be returning to the Philippines this month to take charge of the training center under the supervision of Sis Marcia. Masbate training center will officially open August 4 (monday).

The city swarmed with military presence all day yesterday with the presence of President Gloria Macapal Aroyo in the area. She visited the poorest area and promised them help from the government.

We are flying back to Manila tomorrow morning and then travel at night to Laoag city where typhoon signal number 2 is still up in the area. Please believe God with us for the weather to calm down as we go. I will be teaching in Laoag for two weeks and another two weeks in Masbate. Last Saturday, I met with our alumni in Tarlac and Nueva Ecija Province to share with them about the Masbate Project. Everyone was excited about this enlargement of our tent. We prayed together and then dismissed the meeting.

After brainstorming with Pastor Ely (our contact pastor in Masbate), we received more input about the surrounding islands such as cebu, sorsogon, caticlan (boracay mga kapatid), we hope to establish connection with the key church leaders for future conferences and training centers.

To our BS Friends in Broken Arrow, thank you for all the prayers! My travelling this week will not allow me to access internet until the weekend. Miss Brenda will be emailing our BS Venue e-update. Thanks Madam!

Thank you for your prayers and support which is allowing us to fulfill His plan and purpose for Laoag and Masbate. You are blessed!

Believing God for you all to be richly blessed and abound in the peace that Jesus brings.

Please pray about getting involved with the Medical Missions in March 2009 here in Masbate Province? As we spoke at the Pastor’s Meeting yesterday, many of them need this type of assistance in their area. Will you pray about it?

Laoag City Harvest Conference ‘08

After the Gonzaga, Cagayan harvest Conference we had a few days in laoag to prepare for World Harvest Bible Training Center Graduation and the Laoag City Harvest Conference. What a time we had. The Holy Spirit moved on the people, more then 25 were filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues. The Word of Knowledge and the Word of Wisdom were also flowing. At the end of the conference most of the Pastors, Ministers and Church Leaders consecrated themselves to the work that the Lord has called them to do in these final days. What a conference! All glory to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!
