After a late start on Tuesday, we finally boarded the mini-bus leaving for Claveria, Cagayan. Traveling for 3 hours we finally reach Claveria and load our things onto a Jeepney that would take us to Calanasan, Apayao, Philippines. Apayao is a remote mountain provoince in the northern philippines, there are many NPA (New People’s Army) Communist Guerillas in these mountain areas.

After traveling for another 4 hours we arrived in Calanasan. We thank the Lord that it did not rain on the way up or on the way home, but for the three days we were in Calanasan it rained non-stop. The place where we arrived was suppose to be a Pentecostal church, but I remember in the book of acts chapter 19 “He said unto them, have ye received the Holy ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues and prophesied.”

This was a Pentecostal church, but not even one person was filled with the Holy Ghost. This just isn’t right! So we taught on the Holy Spirit and Faith and most all of them were filled especially the young people. Praise the Lord! We had a good time in Calanasan, and hope to return. On the way home down the Mountain we encountered a tree in the road and had to move it. The tree fell across the road due to a mud slide from all the rain. Thank God we were not on the road when the mud slide occurred! Hallelujah! Enjoy the pics below from the trip!

As many of you know, we opened a new Bible training center in the heart of Masbate City in early August of 2008. Many graciously responded for our call of help! Twenty students enrolled for the charter class from Masbate Island, Ticao, and Burias Island for the 10-month ministerial training. A Library was quickly set-up to help the students and local pastors. Outreach teams also took off two months later for evangelism. To date, these students led 3,350 souls to the Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah! Your love, prayers and support allows us to train men and women for God’s end-time harvest! On behalf of the World Harvest staff and students we want to thank you Friends and Partners in the Ministry!. We believe God for a bountiful blessings back to you and your family for your labor of love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ!

Dear Friends,

Greetings in Jesus’ name! May this note find you blessed and enjoying the rest of summer break.

I arrived back safe to Masbate City Monday inspite of two typhoons lingering in the Philippine atmosphere. It was good to find Ptr Pio and Bro. Rey waiting for me at the airport with the ministry FX. The students and their pastors and a few parents were waiting in school when we arrived. There was joy and excitement in the air as the students with eyes filled with anticipation waited for my instructions. A local Masbateno brother (Joey) assisted as as we purchased the electric fans, class chairs, ordered a custom made whiteboard, kitchen items (such as kaldero, kawali, sandok, etc), water dispenser, tons of light bulbs, etc.

The previous tenant failed to pay the electric bill for almost one year. We went ahead and paid the humongous balance at the Marelco and was promised electricity by 4pm that day. By the time we arrived back to school in the evening, lo and behold, we held our very first night in school on candlelights, every mosquito feasting on my feet, and doors with broken locks. Super init. I really thought i was suffering for Jesus especially my hairdo (he he he). With our cellphones dying on us, we really needed electricity. Pastor Pio and Rey returned to the elec company the next day and praise the Lord, we’re on business!

Tuesday, with all boxes and suitcases and plastic bags to open, we went ahead and started regular classes at 7am – 5pm. We have students from Masbate island, ticao island and burias island. All three major islands of the province represented. A total of 21 students are currently enrolled.

I wish you can see the student’s eyes sparkle and smile on their lips as they hear the simple truth of God’s Word. I began sharing about the wonderful plan of God for the salvation of the world. Many were challenged to hear how God can use them all over the island, the country and the world.

We are excited. Ptr Pio is returning to Laoag tomorrow to assist Sis Marcia in giving up the Mission House. We are moving to Vintar to downsize. It will be a big work ahead. Rey, on the other hand, will be staying full time to help run the school. Sis Jackie who will be the assistant administrator of Masbate will be arriving from HongKong Sept 15. I will be glad when she gets here.

While in Manila, I spoke with Bro. Randy (alumni) about the need in Masbate school. He will be assisting for 3 weeks in October during his sem-break.

Let’s pray for Sis Linda Nix to make it here by the end of August. As we badly need a teacher.

Right now, we are getting settled schedule-wise. It is all working out together! We have favor! Favor! Favor!

Thank you for your prayers and support towards this mission. The Lord is faithful to multiply all the blessings and favor back to you and your family!

I will update you more as get the chance to get away teaching schedule. I am using the internet cafe here in the market area.

You are blessed!
Lana

Greetings from Laoag City!

May this note find you always blessed and enjoying the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ! For we know that He will never leave us nor forsake us!

We made it back to Laoag City Friday last week from Masbate. The Lord is good to strengthen us as we hardly felt jet lag associated with changes in time zone. This week I began teaching in the training center one of the 6 subjects I will be covering in two weeks time. Each subject need at least 16 hours of class teaching. We have 10 ministerial training students while the WHIBS (monday only refresher class for pastors) has 20 students enrolled. See attached picture. Masbate school currently have 16 enrolled students but will increase as we officially open August 4.

We were blessed to be visited by the Fernandez Family from Tulsa Oklahoma. We maximized their two short days of visit. They willingly taught two straight days from 8 am-5pm to the bible school students. Their teaching brought refreshing and encouragement to the new students. The kids (Ann, Abby, Joel, Jeremy, Stephanie, & Jesse) on the other hand had a fun time playing together, swimming, and visiting historic places. Thank you Bro. Noel and Sis Lisa for sharing the Word and the good fellowship.

Attached is a picture of the future school of World Harvest Bible Training Center, Masbate City. As you can see it needs much repair and improvements. Please pray that we have a big favor with the owner with regards to the rental contract. The owner is asking beyond our means at this point. The Lord can turn it around if we all believed God together.

Please pray for my meeting with our alumni in Laoag City. I will be sharing the next step and vision of the ministry. I am believing God, i will have favor with them as I did with the alumni in Tarlac City. We will be planning additional training schools in distant areas such as apayao, cagayan, sorsogon, caticlan and possibly cebu.

Have to go for now. Thank you for the emails and prayers. It is indeed an honor to represent you to our Kababayans with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Until Next e-update….

Lana
